The National Committee for Steel Industry at the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) elected Eng. Raed bin Abdullah Al Ajaji as Chairperson, and Mohammed bin Saleh Al Jabr and Abdulaziz bin Ali Al Hudaib as Vice Chairpersons for the new session (1438H-1441H). The meeting was held at the CSC premises in Riyadh, with attendance of CSC Assistant Secretary General for National Committees, Abdulmalek Al Sulaiman.
The newly-elected members expressed their gratitude for the trust bestowed upon them by the committee members, promising to dedicate their efforts to further elevate the role of the committee, and facilitate obstacles that hinder progress in the sector.
Eng. Al Ajaji noted the significant role of the committee as a voice to investors in the sector, which conveys their concerns to related bodies, and helps them overcome hindrances in the sector, which is a vital driver of Saudi economy, particularly following the launching of the Saudi Vision 2030 whose programs are relevant to the sector. The newly-elected Chairperson praised CSC for its support to national committees, and noted the support of all government agencies in this regard, which he stated has increased these committees’ efficiency, and elevated the services they provide to investors.
Al Ajaji also stressed the importance of the steel industry considering the Kingdom is the largest consumer and producer of steel in the region. It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia’s production of steel makes around 52% of GCC’s production. It also ranks 27th worldwide in the steel industry.
