Contributing to the Development of the Kingdom's Economic Relations with other Countries around the World

    • Establishing an electronic system for trade and investment relations between the Kingdom and other countries around the world.

    • Issuing the 'Saudi Economy' Pamphlet (the 9th edition).

    • Issuing the book about the contribution of the private sector in the national economy - Indicators and Statistics (the 2nd Edition).

    • Organization 25 Saudi delegations to a number of countries such as France, India, Syria, Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, Greece, Bulgaria, Senegal, Mali, Yemen, Turkey, Britain, Jordan, Egypt, Poland, Taiwan .

    • Hosting 90 delegations from friend countries representing many sectors such as construction, education and training, investment, health, railways, oil and gas and electricity, where they discussed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of trade and investment.

    • The Council made the following initiatives based on the Royal Order to promote trade and investment relations with African countries:

    • Organizing the Gulf-African Investment Forum 2010.
    •  
       
    • Meeting the team representing the approved African heads of delegations to agree on mechanisms to activate the economic relations between the countries, and follow-up on what has been agreed on in the second meeting between African heads of delegations and Saudi businessmen.
    •  
       
    • Organizing expeditions to a number of African countries, for the purpose of cooperation in the economic field.
    •  
       
    • Meeting with representatives of the economic Mass for Eastern African Countries (COMESA)
    •  
       
    • The honoring of the Council of Saudi Chambers by the U.S. Department of Commerce for its excellence in supporting the Kingdom's foreign trade especially with the United States of America.
    •  
       
    • Signing cooperation agreements with the federations of chambers in Vietnam and Syria to boost bilateral trade and investment relations.
    •  
       
    • Organizing a workshop in London for cooperation in the field of financial services between the Saudi and British sides.
    •  
       
    • Discussing the impediments to granting visas to businessmen, customs exemptions, restrictions on private capitals, transportation problems, facilitating the exchange of information, Saudi investments abroad, and working on resolving them with the concerned authorities.
    •  
       
    • Representing the business sector in the meetings of Saudi - Arab and foreign joint committees, and the most important meetings that took place in the report year include:

    • The meeting of Qatari businessmen and heads of Saudi Chambers of Commerce with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince.

    • The meeting of the German Chancellor, Ms. Angelo Merkel with Saudi businessmen in Jeddah.

    • The meeting of the Indian Prime Minister with Saudi businessmen.

    • Participation in a conference on solar energy in the Kingdom that was held in Germany and organized by the Association of the Middle/Near East.

    • Participating in the 2nd International Investment Forum in Ashgabat - Turkmenistan.

    • Participating in an exhibition for Indian companies in the Abha Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

    • Participating in a seminar on trade and investment opportunities in Argentina.

    • Participating in seminars organized by the Institute of Diplomatic Studies with the new ambassadors of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, appointed to friend countries in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to view opinions of the Saudi business sector on ways to strengthen economic relations with these countries.

    • Studying the amended basic system for the GCC Accounting and Auditing Organization.

    • Studying the law/system of liberalizing goods and services, and the organizing investment among the GCC States.

    • Studying the basic system of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce.

    • Studying the agreement for establishing the Arab-African Joint Chamber.

    • Studying the proposal submitted by the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy to establish a liaison office for Chinese companies and enterprises operating in the Kingdom.

    • Studying the accession of the Council of Saudi Chambers to the International Committee for the Organization of the Euro-Asian Business Conference.
    •  
       
    • Studying the note from the General Secretariat of the GCC Chambers Union on the future of the Gulf Commercial Arbitration Centre, and participating in the committee assigned to study the center's development.

    • Studying the establishment of the Saudi Agricultural Investment Society in Ethiopia.
